BEC - Energy Efficiency Forum for a Low Carbon Hong Kong

Business Environment Council - EnviroSeries Conference

This one day interactive forum will be the platform for post-Copenhagen discussion from experts on innovation and breakthrough technology regarding Hong Kong’s transition to be a more energy-efficient and low-carbon city. Join us and be inspired by the latest efforts in sustainability, and help reduce Hong Kong’s carbon footprint one step at a time.

The conference's Keynote speaker was CCBF's Executive Chair, Tony Tyler.  His speech 'The 2oC Challenge – Risks, Rewards and Roadmap for the Business Community' looked at a flight plan, taking Hong Kong to a low carbon economy:

''Cities which are environmentally resilient, and energy efficient, will be economically more secure. So we need a smart goal – a stretch target with smart policies and incentives to get us there. The key will be a well-coordinated effort between government, business and civil society, endowed with both financial and political capital.  Business -at least those of us in CCBF - is ready, willing and able:  we would welcome a carbon target and want to be part of the process of designing the most efficient way to achieve it.''

This speech was paired with an opinion editorial published on World Earth Day in the SCMP.  To read the full article and our other opinion editorials click here for our CCBF in the news page.
